5 kg Cocopeat Blocks and Coco Chip Blocks

Compressed for freight. Rehydrated at destination. Blended and packed to your requirement.

The standard export format

A 5 kg block is coco substrate compressed to roughly a fifteenth of its working volume. You ship dense, dry material instead of air and water, then the grower adds water at the far end and gets 70 to 80 litres back. That compression is the whole economics of coir export. It is also where suppliers differ: how consistently the block holds together, how evenly it rehydrates, and how much salt is left in it when it arrives.

70 to 80 litres

Expanded volume from one 5 kg cocopeat block with approximately 25 litres of water. Coco chip blocks give 50 to 60 litres.

Below 0.5 mS/cm

Washed with water alone to below 0.5 mS/cm, no chemical treatment. Measured by 1:1.5 volume extract. Unwashed grade also available.

24 months

Shelf life stored dry and out of direct sunlight. Each block carries its batch reference.

Questions buyers ask

How many 5 kg blocks fit in a 40 foot container?

Quantity per container depends on block dimensions and stacking, and we confirm it against your exact specification before quoting. Ask us and we will give you the loaded figure rather than an estimate.

What EC measurement method do your figures use?

All our EC figures are measured by the 1:1.5 volume extract method. If your specification uses saturated media extract, tell us and we will supply the equivalent figure. The two differ by roughly a factor of two, and it is the most common reason a good sample is rejected.

Are your blocks buffered?

Our standard product is unbuffered, washed with water alone. Calcium buffering is a chemical treatment we carry out only on request. The two are often confused: washing with water removes loose salts and brings EC down, while buffering uses a calcium solution to displace the sodium and potassium bound to the exchange sites. Low EC does not require any chemical at all.

Can you match a specification I already buy to?

Usually, yes. Send us your current specification and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it before you order.

Are your blocks sterilised or certified organic?

No to both, and we say so plainly. We wash and screen but do not heat-treat, and we do not currently test for pathogens, so we do not describe the product as pathogen-free. We do not hold organic certification.

What is your minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum. We will take a single container. Many suppliers will not quote below three or five containers, which makes trying a new source expensive. We would rather take one container that ships correctly and earn the second order.

Does my order come with test data?

Yes. Every container ships with the batch test report for that exact production lot, and we retain a sealed duplicate here under the same batch number, so any question about a delivery can be checked against physical material.
